Minecraft

I don't know if you've heard about this game, but it's become a massive indie phenomenon, more than a million people have bought the game, and it's not even out of beta! I even bought it back when it was in alpha, some 3 or 4 months ago. I wanted to share some of my buildings and some fan art which is really good. Hope you like them!

This are my first buildings, this is even before I learned how to play with redstone ( a kind of wire that let's you create circuits in-game) I'll post some of my new buildings in the weeks to come, when they are finished. They are nothing fancy I know, but they really take a lot of time (and not much planning).

Minecraft fan art after the break!

I really admire the creativity of some people, a lot of my buildings are just cubes and spheres filled with stuff. But I least I have fun. Have a good weekend!

  6. @mtn Nothing is wrong with the graphics!

Graphics doesn't make a game a game. If it did, Pong, Pacman, and all the games before the "next-gen" consoles would have NEVER been successful. But they have!

What makes a game a game is gameplay. It has to be fun, addicting (not too much ;)), challenging, and non-linear (for most) to suit a real gamer's needs.

Graphics is just eye-candy and to indicate what's going on, back then all you had was text to read, and if you wanted graphics you can go play a table-top game!

This is why Minecraft is so successful. When you play creative it is like giving an artist all the tools he needs. From paint and brushes to pencils and erasers.

As for survival, you can still be quite creative, while having fun in randomly generated worlds testing your survival skills and luck trying to find diamond ore and rule both the regular world and the nether!

Minecraft is awesome, the mods, texture packs, it is so customizable, it's a game for everyone... unless you CARE about graphics. I'd rather have an "ugly" but fun game, than a "pretty" but boring game. Have fun with your BORING games mtn, haha!
